Tea & a box of Crayola

Hey all! This will be two posts in one. Our last two book clubs have been hosted by the lovely Ann Marie and the lovely Lorie. Thank you both for opening your homes to us as well as choosing two very inspirational books. The Last Lecture had us thinking that maybe we make our lives too complicated sometimes, while 3 Cups of Tea inspired us to "be the change you wish to see in the world". Happy Birthday to Kim again, who so graciously spent her birthday with us @ the April book club!! We hope that all of your birthday wishes came true.

It looks like we will forgo the May Book Club (unless I hear different....). Would anyone be interested in going out for dinner towards the end of May in lieu of our club? It might be nice to get together and just chat for a while....

We will return for Book Club in June @ Meagan's and Gina has chosen July @ her place for a Book Club by the pool! I will post the books as soon as I know them.

See you then, if not before!

Plastic Heart Keychains & Chocolate Desserts.....

It was so good to see all who were able to join us @ the February Club hosted by Cindy. Thank you Cindy for a delicious dinner and to the rest of you who brought drinks, apps, or desserts.

A Thousand Splendid Suns

"It is a tale of two generations of characters brought jarringly together by the tragic sweep of war, where personal lives—the struggle to survive, raise a family, find happiness—are inextricable from the history playing out around them."

I thought the book was spectacular and it seemed that everyone present enjoyed it as well. It was obvious that we all connected to the book in various ways. Mostly I think we were all able to identify with Mariam and Laila and their dreams, ordinary hopes, and day-to-day struggle to survive. The conversation was interesting as always and thank you Cindy for keeping us on track an continuing to bring the focus back to the book. Sometimes it seems like time flies and there is so much left to say at the end of the night!! Again, a great night with friends, old and new……

We missed very much seeing those of you who were not able to join us!

I look forward to seeing you all next week @ Ann Marie's for our March 12th Book Club.
Be looking for an invite from her soon!

BBQ, Cole Slaw, and Sweet Tea..........

Nothing could be better......... Being a girl from the south, those are standard staples for any local gathering! Thank you Lisa for a great evening. The "revised" book pick seemed to be a great diversion from our last book club. I think everyone enjoyed the book and discussion. Although, I am sure some of you were thinking "What book did Jill READ?!?!" I got a wee bit confused ladies!! I think I may have read the book pick too early?? I was just trying to be prepared for the thought invoking discussion that I knew would take place. But of course, after the book discussion, somehow Nikki and myself got off on a Valley story tangent! Hopefully, it provided a little entertainment and many much needed laughs!

Yes, it is a real place.
And no, you can not make those kinds of stories up.

Until we meet again at Cindy's..................peace out my fellow book club remixers.
